Incubation Centre

DSI Incubation Centre carries out its mission of promoting innovation and entrepreneurship through SMEs involved in the development of software products / services, running pilot projects in Mechanical, Chemical and Electrical Engineering, which culminate in the creation of companies, following a viable business model. Also, It will enable and seed business operations with guidance in product design, know-how acquisition, financial mobilizations for a young entrepreneur originating from DSI or associated with DSI, Bangalore, India.

This model assures that our actions are always based on the market demand and the current technology forecast. It creates opportunities in our operational segments, builds a vision and enables startup to sell a development project to a specific client. The project then goes through a development phase resulting in a solution for the client’s demands. This solution, initially a single-client one, can be generalized into a product or service, and can go through a market test period. If these evaluations produce positive results, investors are sought out who have the capital transform this venture in to stable company. It can explore the new service or product for a wider market. One of the modes that attract investors to new technology businesses is the Angels investor clubs program, which consists of a web of ‘angels’ who can finance new companies.

DSI Incubation Centre proactively search for potential new Entrepreneurs in ICT, Engineering and Technology businesses through the constant interaction between universities, research centers, investment funds and other parties, be they be entities or individuals.  Evaluation of the entrepreneur is done through an analysis of the information contained in the Business plan submitted by the proponent and  the response submitted to a Preliminary Analysis form.  Once the application is approved, a more detailed analysis will be carried out based on the points that consist of:

  • The technical and economic viability of the opportunity
  • The degree of technological competitiveness
  • The profile of the entrepreneurs

If the analysis is favorable, the matter is presented to DSI Incubation Centers’ Advisory system, which is responsible for the final approval.  Once approved by the Advisory system, the incubation phase begins. As the incubation milestones are reached, DSI Incubation Centre enables formation of  a company with or without additional investors / entrepreneurs as acceptable to the incubated party.

Finally, the company can move to the real-world and it gets in to the last phase of  incubation process.  The incubated company is now ready for an independent market dealing of its own.  Support activities given from the center are gradually withdrawn and it is passed on  to the new incubated company.   The last formal act of the process is to sign the incubation agreement dissolution document, which brings the incubation period to a close and initiates the independent life of the new company.
