INTRODUCTION
Dayananda Sagar Institute of Technology (DSIT)
a leading Polytechnic Institution was established
in the year 1980, under the aegis of Mahatma
Gandhi Vidya Peetha (MGVP) vide Government Order
No ED 88 TPE 80, Bangalore, dated 25th July
1980 with Civil, Mechanical & Electrical
courses. Additional courses namely Electronics
& Computer Science and Information Science
were started in due course.

DSIT Polytechnic has sound infrastructure,
fully-equipped with laboratories, classrooms,
workshops, spacious drawing halls, well-qualified
experienced staff, a modern library and play
grounds. An added advantage is that students
have access to sophisticated instruments, machinery,
computer-aided systems, browsing centers, digital
classrooms, digital library and other support
infrastructure.
TEACHING
FACULTY
The core-teaching faculty of DSIT is recruited
as per norms prescribed by the All India Council
for Technical Education (AICTE) New Delhi. The
teaching staff performs a variety of tasks such
as formal instruction in theoretical classes,
laboratories, workshops and field work, progressive
evaluation of students’ academic performances
& assessment and project developmental activities.
All these motivate students to acquire requisite
practical training in the field of engineering.
In addition, students can obtain counselling
and guidance on individual basis also.
TEACHING
METHODOLOGY
The Medium of Instruction is English.
The methodology followed is very scientific
and unique. Students have exposure to advanced
study programmes. Spirit of enquiry and competitiveness
among the students is encouraged.
DIPLOMA IN ENGINEERING
DSIT (Polytechnic) offers full time diploma
courses in six leading branches of Engineering.
These courses are recognized by the highest
technical board in the State viz., The Directorate
of Technical Education, Government of Karnataka,
and approved by the AICTE, New Delhi. The time
duration of the courses is three years i.e.
6 semesters.

Education, accompanied by the following:
1. Original + 2 Photo copies of 10th standard
Marks Card
2. Original Transfer Certificate + 2 photo
copies.
3. 5 Years’ Study Certificate + 2 photo
copies .in case of Karnataka Students
4. Eligibility Certificate in case of all
Non-Karnataka Students
5. Eligibility Certificate only in case of
Karnataka students who have passed CBSE or
ICSE examinations.
6. Latest photographs - 05 Nos.
IMPROVEMENT
IN ACADEMIC WORK:
With the introduction of Semester Scheme,
there is continuous evaluation of students
throughout the semester. This has been achieved
by way of internal assessment at regular intervals,
which builds up regular study habits in students
and helps in diagnosing, the pupil’s
learning. It helps to find out potentialities
of individual students’ interests, needs
and aptitudes.
Tests
and assignments:
Three internal tests are conducted in each
semester in all subjects.
Subject notes, lab records, workshop diaries,
drawing files etc. are inspected regularly
by the concerned staff
Internal assessment marks are added to the Final
Exam marks in each subject. These marks help in
boosting up the percentage of marks in each subject.
ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS
Results are remarkably improving every year.
Results of November 2006 Examinations- 7 distinctions,
70 first classes and 40 second classes.
Extra care is given to students from regional
and non English medium schools
A sense of interest and learning is instilled
in the young minds of students.
Supervised study is conducted for students by
respective department staff during free hours
for improving academic excellence.
Students are exposed to the latest technology
- CNC Machines, VLSI Design, PLC, Microcontroller,
Multimedia designing, Mechatronics, ASP.net
and VB.net

Carry Over System
:
Full carry over from odd semester to even
semesters.
2nd to 3rd semester not more than four subjects
of 1st and 2nd semesters together.
4th to 5th semester – students should
have cleared all the subjects of 1st and 2nd
semesters and not more than four subjects
of 3rd and 4th semesters together.
Student Discipline
:
DSIT (Polytechnic) expects a high degree of
discipline and decorum among the student community.
They are expected to be smartly dressed (preferably
in formals) at all times of the day and follow
a code of conduct and good behaviour. The
overall behaviour of the students in the campus
will be continuously monitored. If any sort
of misbehaviour with any member of the faculty
(both teaching and non-teaching) or management
or office staff is noticed, serious action
as per the norms of the management will be
taken.
Students are required to strictly follow
the dress code set by the institution for
various practical classes. As per the Supreme
Court Order “Ragging in any form is
banned”. Action as per norms will be
taken against those indulging in such activities.
Students are instructed not to bring or use
mobile phones in the campus. If any student
is caught in possession of a mobile phone
or using a mobile anywhere in the campus it
will be confiscated and not returned under
any circumstances whatsoever.
Minimum Eligibility
Required to Admit to the Diploma Courses :
1. A pass in 10th standard or its equivalent
Examination with Science and Mathematics is
compulsory.
2. Non-Karnataka students should obtain Eligibility
Certificate issued by the Department of Technical
Education, Govt. of Karnataka.

Seminar Hall :
1A big seminar hall is available within the
campus with a good facility for audio / visual
presentations. Overhead projectors (OHP) and
public address system for guest lectures are
provided. There will be conferences held from
eminent speakers of reputed institutions and
research establishments.
DSIT conducts annual technical seminars/workshops
on an individual basis or in coordination
with Diploma staff and students of other sister
institutions and leading industries in the
city, in order to give exposure to our students
to the cutting-edge technology.
Library :
DSIT (Polytechnic) has excellent library facility
with volumes covering from elementary principles
to advanced concepts in Engineering and Management,
In addition to the above; certain leading
Technical and Management Journals/Magazines
are made available to the students.
Placement Cell
:
There is sufficient co-ordination between
our placement officer and leading industries
and firms for obtaining suitable placement
for qualified and meritorious students.
