GREAT
SCOPE FOR TECHNICAL EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL
DEVELOPMENT
Bangalore, the
capital city of the State of Karnataka, is one
of the fastest growing metropolis in India in
terms of establishment of premier scientific
and technological educational institutions and
progressive medium and large scale industries
such as BEML, BEL, HAL, ITI, IBM, L&T, MICO
and Research & Development organisations
such as CMTI, DRDO, ISRO, IISC and the Raman
Research Institute. In order to support these
big industries there are many ancillaries in
and around Bangalore. In addition to these,
in the field of Information Technology and computer
software, many International Tech-parks, Software
Technology parks and leading software development
centres such as Infosys, Wipro, IBM-Tatas, Motorola,
Texas Instruments and Hewlett Packard among
others, need large numbers of technically qualified
personnel.
Due to technological advancement and automation
in industry, it is imperative to have more technical
support personnel, with hands-on practical training
and relevant theoretical knowledge in the field
of maintenance of Electrical, Electronics and
Mechanical equipment, Construction and maintenance
of buildings, apartments, highways and fly-overs,
in the Civil Sector, PC servicing and maintenance
in the hardware sector, construction of micro-processed
based teaching models, aids and computer-aided
machines. In order to augment these activities,
industry is now turning towards diploma holders
for big recruitment. Personnel are the key vertebra
of industrial growth at the grass root-level.
Diploma education is more focused on industry
and industry - institute interactive programmes
to develop skill, knowledge and learning ability
of a student, understanding the various functional
activities across a wide spectrum and cross
- section of an industry. These programmes help
the diploma students to excel in today's competitive
business world.
Institutions having a good relationship with
industry ensure students get an opportunity
to execute industry relevant organisational
projects. With the introduction of semester
system from the year 2003, teaching contents
have been changed and the burden on a student
is reduced, making room for more creativity
in learning and fostering potentialities of
the individual pupil.
Thus an individual after ten years of
schooling can enter a three-year diploma in
engineering and take up choice employment in
industry.
SCOPE OF STUDY
WHY DIPLOMA
IN ENGINEERING?
Diploma Holders are the personnel who are the
key vertebra for industrial growth from the grass-&root
level. They are the personnel required to cater
to the needs of large industrial sectors, where
there is a dire necessity to fill up middle/lower
management cadre to control a large number of
employees and to maintain the equipment.
Based on their ability, students completing the
Diploma Course are absorbed by various industries
and other technical organizations
within India and abroad.
Diploma holders can become self-employed and start
their own business as technical professionals
as they have practical skills.
Diploma Holders are eligible for ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIPS
OF THE INSTITUTION OF ENGINEERS
(A.M.I.E), which is equivalent to the BE Degree.
·As per the norms of the Visvesvaraya Technological
University (VTU), Diploma holders are eligible
for lateral entry to the third
semester Engineering Course.
The student will need to study
a total of 6 years (3 years Diploma + 3 years
Engineering) to complete his
graduation.
Option of utilising
the earn while you learn scheme. Diploma Holders
can thus work and attend an evening
engineering college and complete their degree
program.
Overall the Diploma Holders can carve out a niche
for themselves in the highly competitive technical
society.

a leading Polytechnic Institution was established
in the year 1980, under the aegis of Mahatma Gandhi
Vidya Peetha (MGVP) vide Government Order No ED
88 TPE 80, Bangalore, dated 25th July 1980 with
Civil, Mechanical & Electrical courses. Additional
courses namely Electronics & Computer Science
and Information Science were started in due course.
WHY CHOOSE DSIT (POLYTECHNIC) BANGALORE?
DSIT
Polytechnic has sound infrastructure, fully-equipped
with laboratories, classrooms, workshops, spacious
drawing halls, well-qualified experienced staff,
