The Dayananda Sagar Schools and Colleges of Science, Arts and Commerce are pioneering institutions founded by late Dayananda Sagar in the early sixties.

Progressively a number of institutions offering diploma, degree and postgraduate courses in Engineering, Dental Sciences, and Pharmacy were added. Management and high-end Information Technology education programmes have also been introduced. Keeping in pace with technological growth, courses in Biotechnology and Microbiology are being offered catering to new demands from industry, research institutes and the overall market needs. DSI’s new program is to train teachers at the Dayananda Sagar College of Education.

Facilities for doctoral and postdoctoral work are now being created encouraging the curious within and, the talented outside to come into the folds of DSI, put to use the infrastructure and other facilities to its optimum levels.

Health care education has been receiving strong emphasis at the DSI campus through diploma and graduate programs in Nursing. The Nursing faculty has well-equipped laboratories and modern infrastructure. This is supplemented with a team of professionally qualified faculty who guide the students to achieve their best. The Allied Health College offers some of the critical programs now in peak demand and many more will be added in the immediate future.

Medicine:
Completing the one stop offer for all professional programs is the medical college soon to take off with the Government of Karnataka giving its consent. A 750-bed teaching hospital is under construction that will be attached to the medical college. A formal announcement will follow.

Hands on learning, an enriching experience
DSI is associated with one of India’s leading hospital chains – the Sagar Apollo Hospital. This gives students and faculty – especially in the fields of biological sciences and the other healthcare education programs to gain hands on experience of working in a world-class environment. Engineering faculty too spend time at the hospital in select areas as in imaging and other fields.

To ensure quality education, liberal investments on infrastructure are made matching to the needs and desire of the faculty. DSI’s laboratories and other support facilities are therefore considered to rank among the best in the city.

DSI also lays emphasis on interaction with industry and other reputed research institutions. Several of DSI faculties are on the panel of large and medium companies and a few start-ups. Many of the departments serve as research labs to national and local governments and construction & manufacturing firms, ensuing optimum use of investments adding to the learning experience of working on live projects.
